A Brief Look at Ty Beanie Boos

Everybody remembers the Beanie Baby craze that took place in mid and late 1990s. These were small plush animals that were stuffed with small plastic pallets. Beanie Babies were first introduced in 1993 and became popular to the masses later in the decade. Many people remember collecting them or even trying to sell them over the internet often on eBay. Beanie Babies were made by the company Ty Inc., which has continued to make them ever since. The company has also branched out and made a number of other stuffed toys similar to the popular Beanie Babies. One of the other popular toys that Ty Inc. makes is Beanie Boos. This article will give a brief introduction to Ty Beanie Boos.

Ty introduced Beanie Boos in June of 2009. These Teeny Tys toys are similar to Beanie Babies except the animals will have larger heads and bigger eyes. They still come in many different animal styles. They are made with polyester fibers on the outside and the same plastic pellets on the inside. And of course they carry the same red heart shaped tag with the Ty Inc. logo that everyone will recognize. And like Beanie Babies, it is fun to try and collect them all.

Beanie Boos were first introduced in the UK, with seven different styles to pick from. Later in 2009 the animals would be introduced to America. The Boos that came to America were slightly different, as Ty modified the original seven styles and decided to release only six in the US. The next year they would introduce two new sizes of Boos. One that was bigger which measured in at 13 inches, these toys were originally known as Buddies. They also introduced a key chain clip version known as the Boo, these were a 5 inch model. Then in 2012 Ty started to sell larger 16 inch versions of the Boos.

While Beanie Boos ty were not expensive to purchase from a retail store or online, some Boos went up in value, mainly due to being retired. Although they would be retired, many collectors were still interested in adding them to their collection. When Ty retires certain products they will no longer manufacturer that style. When this happens the power of supply and demand comes into play. When there is less of a product, the demand will be higher- which means the value will become higher. This was also the case with a lot of the Beanie Babies, especially during their peek of popularity.
